Media Studies at South Holderness Technology College

Course description

Media Studies offers a range of methods to develop your knowledge and understanding of the media. By emphasising key approaches such as representation you will develop a ‘tool kit’ with which to deconstruct and analyse the meanings within media texts as diverse as blockbuster movies and advertising campaigns.

The practical element of the course encourages students to express their knowledge by producing their own media text. This is invaluable as an opportunity to experience the reality of media production. The course allows you to think independently and have greater control over the influence the media has on our daily lives.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs A-C grade including Maths and English

A grade B in GCSE subjects is required for most A Level programmes. Please speak to the sixth form subject teacher for specific details on course entry.
