Electrical Installation Level 3 Diploma at Wigan & Leigh College

Course description

This course allows you to study a Level 3 Technical Certificate, which forms part of the Electrical Installation Advanced Apprenticeship. Where possible we will attempt to arrange a work placement with employers, which could lead to possible employment.

Course content

This course consists of the following units: health and safety in building services engineering, understanding the fundemantal principles and requirements of environmental technology systems, principles of electrical science. Electrical Installations: fault diagnosis and rectification, Electrical Installation: inspection, testing and commissioning, electrical systems designs and career awareness in building services engineering.

Entry requirements

GCSE TARIFF

A minimum of 5 A*-C/ 4-9 GCSE subjects or equivalent including maths or English

Assessment

By one online, multi- choice examinations and two practical assignments, science written exam and assignment work for inspection and testing, fault finding and design.

    • The College's Pagefield Centre is a purpose built facility to educate students, apprentices and tradespeople of the future.

      This state-of-the-art facility offers a range of Courses in Construction Crafts and Mechanical, Electrical and Civil Engineering.

      Pagefield Centre is currently receiving a £1.4m development in top of the range facilities to add to its already impressive learning environment.

      The turning and milling workshops will soon have new and upgraded equipment, which will include the latest technology in fabrication and welding.

      There will also be a plasma cutting bed and a new thermodynamic and fluid mechanic laboratory.

      To complement this state of the art equipment, students will have access to the latest finite element analysis software, CAD / CAM, hydraulics and pneumatics software, enabling them to experience learning in a high-spec environment.
