BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Public Services (Uniformed) at Trafford College
This programme is for students over 16 wishing to pursue a career in Uniformed Public Services professions and embraces the core values of "Discipline, Teamwork and Fitness". The course provides a balance between practical and theoretical aspects of Public Services work. There are 7 units of study to be followed and these are selected from the following:- Public Service Skills- Career Planning for the Public Services- Improving Health and Fitness for Entry to the Uniformed Public Services- Employment in the Uniformed Public Services- Citizenship, the Individual and Society- Adventurous Activities and Teamwork- Crime and its Effects on Society- Attending Emergency Incidents in Public Services- Security Procedures in the Services- There is an opportunity to work towards a Duke of Edinburgh Award
5 GCSE's at grade D or above (including maths and English)
All student's work is assessed through coursework and assignment - based tasks. As this is a coursework - based programme, attendance and punctuality are paramount to success. There will be some written tests as part of the assessment.
Students will also be required to volunteer in the community (e.g., NCS)Indoor / outdoor sports kit is required. There is an approximate cost of £75 for uniform. Students will need to provide their own files and plastic wallets. There is also a nominal £15 hire charge for use of adventure training equipment.
Students who successfully achieve this Diploma will be able to progress onto the Level 3 BTEC course, or apply for relevant employment.
