Fashion Photography – OCR Cambridge Introductory Diploma Level 3 at Gateway College
You will explore genres of Fashion Photography (fine art, studio, location, advertising, commercial) and learn how to respond to a brief creating ideas and concepts through the design process (research, plan, experiment, evaluate, present). You will use Adobe Photoshop software and traditional media (film and wet-room printing) to learn about photographic practice and produce analytical research in visual log books which will aid your understanding of the photographic design processes.
There are a range of extension opportunities for students studying all courses in Art and Design. Previous visits have included London Galleries, Alexander McQueen (Savage Beauty), Clothes Show Live, London Fashion Week (street style focus). We also benefit from a programme of visiting speakers and professional workshops carried out by professionals who work in the Photography and Art and Design Industry.
At least 5 GCSE's grades 9 - 4 including English Language grade 4 and any Art and Design subject grade 4 or BTEC / OCR. A satisfactory portfolio of work will need to be presented at interview.
There is not an exam for this course. Assessment is continuous over 6 units, 3 units in year 1 and 3 units in year 2. A Portfolio of research and developmental work and final photographic outcomes are required that fulfil the assessment criteria.
Free to all UK home students.A £50 studio fee includes the provision of a basic kit bag.
Many students progress onto the highly successful Pre-Degree Foundation Diploma in Art and Design or to a variety of high profile BA (Hons) degrees in Film, Media and Photography leading to a career related to the visual arts.
