Professional Cookery Part 1 Level 2/3 VRQ Diploma at Chelmsford College

Course description

This qualification is highly recognised by employers, and by studying this course you will gain qualifications to become a professional within the hospitality and catering industry. The course covers all aspects of catering and food service building on from the skills and knowledge gained in Level 1 - 2.

Entry requirements

Entry Requirements:

Level 1 in Professional Cookery, food or industrial experience.


Specific Entry Requirements:

Industrial experience and a Level 1 qualification in English.


The course is assessed throughout the year by knowledge tests and practical assessments and two final practical exams at the end of the year.

Financial information

New learners need to purchase uniform, equipment and a text book from the College suppliers, expected costs are approx £190.

Learners progressing from Level 1, expected costs are approx £65

Progressing learners will also be able to reply existing uniform and equipment.

Future opportunities

Completion of the Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery will prepare you for employment within a variety of sectors within the hospitality and catering industry. The opportunity to progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Professional Cookery.

    • Our Princes Road campus houses many of our practical vocational areas. Laid out over a two-floor site with car parking and good links to buses, the campus boasts a new Electrical and Engineering block.

      A new welcome area with internet cafe, refectory and conservatory area for students to relax and socialise are also available.

      In addition to Electrical and Engineering, our Princes Road campus also houses our Construction workshops and Hospitality and Catering kitchens, with our Princes Room restaurant open to the public.

      The campus also houses a Learning Centre, Skills Development Centre, Assessment Centre and Tutorial Centre.
