Performing Arts BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Grantham College

Course description

The course helps to develop the performance skills, technical abilities and professional attitude essential for the successful performer.

Course content

It focuses on specialist training within drama, dance and musical theatre, and provides a firm foundation for a range of careers in the performing arts industry.

The course covers a variety of related subjects that may include: Devising theatre and directing Dance performance and choreography Performing to an audience Radio acting Scriptwriting Storytelling as performance Vocal and singing workshops. The students' last public performance of the course takes place in the Grantham Guildhall Theatre and is open to the public.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs (Grade C or above), it is recommended that one is GCSE English Language, a relevant Level 2 Diploma with at least a Merit profile, or an appropriate equivalent, and satisfactory references are required.


Practical assignments, professional practice, performances and portfolio.

Financial information

Full Time Further Education courses are free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course.  Exam resit fees may apply if and when applicable.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of the course most students progress to drama and dance schools or universities with a few going straight into the performing arts industry.
