English Literature A Level at Ormiston Sudbury Academy

Course description

This course enables the development of critical theory and analytical skills as you explore Shakespeare, the novel and drama from the ‘cannon’.

The theme of ‘Tragedy’ is explored in the AS course. You will therefore study texts including Othello, Death of a Salesman and Tess of the d’Urbervilles.

At A level you will consider ‘Elements of Crime Writing’, delving into a personal study of texts for individual coursework.

As an avid reader you will hold a love of literature and theatre, you will enjoy exploring your personal perspective of texts.

Entry requirements

Grade B in GCSE English Language and English Literature.
