Team Leading Level 2 Apprenticeship at Swindon College
This course is suitable for people employed in a Team Leader role within any industry. You will be required to complete approximately
12 different units within the qualification. This consists of 5 mandatory units which are; Manage personal performance and development, Communicate work related information, Lead and manage a team, Principles of team leading, Understand business.
In addition to this, a further 7 optional units will be required, which could include; Develop working relationships with colleagues, Contribute to meetings (or Chair meetings), Principles or promotion of equality and diversity within the workplace, Manage team or individual performance, Manage conflict within a team, Collaborate with other departments, Deliver customer service, Develop or Deliver a presentation.
The most appropriate units will be selected with the support and guidance of the assessor to ensure they are aligned with the type of work undertaken by the Apprentice.
The Apprenticeship is open to those aged 16+ who are employed in a suitable role and hold GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade
C in English and Maths.
Please note that funding restrictions may apply to Apprentices aged 19+. Also, Apprenticeship funding is currently not available for those who have a degree, HNC, HND or equivalent Level 4 or above qualification. This means you as the Apprentice would be liable for the full fees of the course.

The combined Level 2 Apprenticeship will comprise of both knowledge and competence units.
The knowledge units and functional skills* of the Diploma will be delivered: Using online learning resources; Students will spend approx. half a day per week away from their normal work duties to undertake this learning, with the Assessor visiting every 3-4 weeks to facilitate and check progress; and assessment will be via a written assignment for the knowledge units. Functional Skills will be assessed via online tests (conducted at Swindon College), this process takes place during the first 24 weeks of the Apprenticeship programme.
The Competence units within the Diploma, ERR and PLTS are assessed by: A range of work based assessment methods. This will be in forms of observations, work products, written questions and witness testimonies. Assessors will visit on a 3 weekly basis to facilitate progress and conduct assessments. There will be regular work-based reviews to ensure progression and support – these will be conducted by a Training Co-ordinator or an Assessor.
*Students who require more in depth learning for Functional Skills will attend a block week of learning and online testing at Swindon College.

Upon completion of the Level 2 Apprenticeship a student may wish to progress to a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship.
