Recreational Skills at King Edward VII

Course content

Are you a motivated sports person? Do you want to have the opportunity to gain skills in a variety of activities? If so, this course could be for you.

These skills will include: Sports Leadership, Personal Performance Teamwork

Activities available to choose from will include some of the following; trampolining, swimming, lifesaving, skiing/snowboarding, canoeing, climbing, diving, ice skating, bowling, hill walking, orienteering, weight-training, martial arts, golf, problem solving, sailing, windsurfing and water skiing.

You will have two lessons each week which will take up one afternoon per week. Most lessons will be off-site and transport will be provided. Sometimes you may get back to school after 3.40pm. There will be a cost involved (usually 24 pr year).

By the end of the two year course you will have gained experience in a variety of activities and had the opportunity to gain personal performance certification in some of the activities undertaken, as well as Junior Sports Leadership award.

People who should make this choice:

  • People who are keen to try a variety of activities
  • People who never miss PE or forget their kit
  • People who want to learn how to become leaders

People who should not make this choice:

  • People who dont enjoy lots of activities listed
  • People who often miss PE or forget kit
  • People who dont really like trying new things
