Level 3 Animal Management at Newton Rigg College

Course description

This programme covers the subjects needed to develop the skills to care for, handle and manage a variety of animals. These skills and the knowledge that goes with them are essential for a career in the animal care or animal management industries or for degree level study.

Course content

Course Themes:

• Care for, handle and manage a variety of animals • Understanding of animal health • How the animal body works and nutritional requirements • Behaviour and communication • Exotics • Zoo and wildlife • Farm livestock • Biochemistry and microbiology • Work experience placement • Investigative project • English and maths provision where applicable

Entry requirements

Usually at least 4 GCSEs at grade C or above to include any 2 from English, Maths and Science with at least a grade D in the remaining subject. Alternatively a suitable level 2 vocational qualification (Merit or above) with English and Maths at Level 2
