Art, Craft and Design A Level at Titus Salt School

Course description

This course is designed to build on GCSE skills and teach new media techniques and methods of working. You must be prepared to work hard and actively participate. You will also be required to complete sketchbook work to support each coursework component. The department runs visits to galleries and exhibitions as part of the course, though independent visits are encouraged to source ideas for practical work.

Course content

A/S -

Component 1: A theme set by the department, to include: observational drawing, critical studies, development and the end product. 60% of the grade

Component 2: Externally set assignment, a paper set by AQA will include all of the above objectives and be independently led – 40% of the grade

A Level -

Component 1; This is a personal investigation into a subject of your choice. It also includes the same objectives as the Component 1 at A/S also a written element of a 1,000 words to support the practical work. – 60% of the grade

Component 2: Externally set assignment- 40% of the grade.
