Health and Social Care BTEC Level 3 at Boston High School

Course description

Course topics are relevant to themes across the health and social care sector and include: human lifespan development, working in health and social care and meeting individual care and support needs. One additional unit will be chosen from: sociological perspectives, psychological   perspectives, supporting individuals with additional needs and physiological disorders and their care.   

The health and social care sectors are among the largest employers and this qualification, equivalent to one A level, supports progression to the specialised degree programmes required  by the sector when taken alongside other relevant A levels.  If you are considering a career in one of these increasingly competitive areas then this course will be of interest to you. 

Entry requirements

You do not need to have studied Health and Social Care previously

You need either …

- Health and Social Care GCSE A*‐B or BTEC Merit/ Distinction.


* If you have not studied Health and Social Care, then A*‐B (or English 5) in any subject which demonstrates essay    writing skills.


Year 12 :   2 x Externally assessed examinations;

Year 13:    2 x internally assessed and externally moderated  coursework units:

Where are your students now?

Previous students have successfully embarked on degree programmes and careers in the sectors. These include:
