Graphic Design has been revolutionised by the digital age.
In the past designers would often specialise in one particular area of design. However, with the positive shift and wealth of technology, designers now have the freedom to diversify and creatively experiment. Our Level 3 course has been designed to give you an in-depth overview of the industry; we aim to develop visual awareness, and attributes and understanding essential for employment in the Creative Arts or progression to higher education.
Our aim is to build your technical skills in: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Dreamweaver, animation, web design, typography, drawing, illustration and also develop your understanding and skill in animation and game art. Visits to local and national galleries form an important part of the course, and you are encouraged to take part in competitions, live briefs and exhibitions.
You will need to have at least:
- 4 GCSEs at grade C / grade 4 or above including English Language, or;
- Level 2 qualification in a relevant vocational subject area and GCSE English Language at grade C / grade 4 or above.
On interview you are requested to present a portfolio. This is to consist of your own artwork (traditional or digital) and/or sketchbooks.
You will be assessed through the completion of assignments and creative projects throughout the course. Full attendance and application in all areas is essential for successful completion.
A list of art materials required for the course will be issued during induction. Study visits to museums and art galleries are included in the programme.
