Course description

Physics is a core discipline in science and is a great way to understand and explore the universe that we live in. Physics is both a significant and influential science, in part because advances in its understanding often translate into new technologies, but also because new ideas in physics often resonate with other sciences, mathematics and philosophy.

Unit 1: Mechanics - laws of motion forces in action work and energy

Unit 2: Electrons, Waves and Photons - electric current, resistance, DC circuits, waves and Quantum Physics

Unit 3: The Newtonian World - Newton’s laws and moments, circular motion and oscillation thermal physics Fields, Particles and Frontiers of Physics– electric and magnetic fields, capacities and exponential decay, nuclear physics, medical imaging and modelling the universe 

Entry requirements

5 A*-C grades at GCSE including English. Double science - Grade B in Physics (excluded BTEC Science) Maths - Grade B.
