BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Performing Arts at Canon Slade CofE School
The course follows the Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Performing Arts specification and is equal to 1 A Level.
Functioning as part of a small theatre company you will train in a variety of performance styles through workshops, rehearsal and performance, producing many productions of professional standard and learning about the many roles in the industry. From this you will be able to create a diverse professional portfolio and show reel which you will be able to use to market yourself to universities, drama schools or agents.
You will also have the opportunity to:
· - Be involved in workshops led by visiting directors and industry professionals.
· - Audition for various college productions.
· - Tour performance work to local theatres and schools.
· - Take part in a variety of educational and theatre visits.
Grade 5 in English and Mathematics plus 3 A*-C grades at GCSE with a points score of 5.5+ (which equals roughly 4xB/6 and 4xC/5), from the top 8 GCSEs taken in the first sitting.
Additional Subject requirements are as follows:
A considerable involvement in a Performing Arts field.
The course is predominantly practical but you will be expected to present evidence of your coursework that may be in the form of a log book, video or sound recording. There are four units of work, two of which are internally set and assessed. The other two are externally marked.
This course is accepted by all Drama Schools and most Universities for undergraduate courses (BA Degrees) related to the subject or teacher training. Many of our students go on to study at distinguished drama schools or university.
Other students use the communication skills and confidence they have gained to go directly into employment.
