Performing Arts BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3 at The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London
This two-year course provides you with a good foundation for a career in music, dance or drama.
The course includes musical theatre, acting techniques, contemporary theatre, dance performance, performance workshop, performing arts business, singing, film, TV acting and contemporary dance. You will also develop functional skills in communication and information technology.
The course is a combination of practical workshop sessions in performance studios, group and individual work. You will be expected to spend additional individual study hours in the Learning Resource Centre Library in order to successfully complete this programme. And as part of the course, you will perform regularly at College events and as part of your assessments. You will create your own Theatre Company, as part of the course, and work professionally to develop its reputation in your community.
You will be asked to come in for an interview and take a literacy and numeracy assessment to see whether this is the right course and level for you. As part of the interview, you will be asked to undertake an audition of no more than 5 minutes, in an area of your choice. Information regarding audition pieces will be sent to you prior to the date, so that you have plenty of time for preparation.
Assessment is through the completion of assignments and building a portfolio of work. Some assessments will be ‘live’ in front of large audiences at external venues, whilst others will be written, through presentations and/or using on line blogs to further develop skills.
You could progress to a degree course at university; specialist drama school; the College, or go straight into employment; seeking a Creative Apprenticeship in an area of interest.
