Course description

Do you want to take your performance skills to an advanced level? Do you dream of a career in Performing Arts? If you answer ‘Yes’, to both of these questions then the BTEC Level 3 is the course for you! The BTEC Level 3 in Performing Arts (Acting) course covers a wide spectrum of activities for the learner to experience every aspect of drama and theatre.

Students on the BTEC Level 3 Performing Arts (Acting) course will encounter an exciting array of vastly differing acting styles. They will develop skills in acting and performing, and will play a crucial role in the organisation and development of performance pieces. The course is practical, involving performance, coursework, and many opportunities to take part in plays and productions. Students will develop knowledge of the styles of practitioners such as Shakespeare, and explore the ideas and themes of contemporary theatre, as well as devising and producing original work

Entry requirements

All students interested in taking this subject will have to audition (3 – 5 minute original, devised monologue) in front of the Head of Drama and ideally have achieved four GCSEs/ BTEC equivalents in separate subjects at a GCSE grade ‘C’ / Pass or better. It would be preferable to have a Grade ‘C’ in English Language and a ‘Pass’ in BTEC Level 2 Performing Arts (Acting); however, students who have achieved at Level 2 in other subjects will be considered on an individual basis. If you have confidence to perform in public then this course would be a great choice for you! This course will run depending upon cohort suitability.

Future opportunities

If you are successful in this course you could continue your studies to higher education to study to degree or HND level. You could also seek employment within the Performing Arts industry, including Theatre, Dance, Film, Television, Exhibition Centres and the Leisure industry or join a specialist Drama school/ college.
