Business - A Level (Aqa) at The Cotswold Academy

Course description

About the syllabus:

Business Studies gives students an understanding of the diverse nature of business and the behaviour of the people within it. It draws upon several social sciences: Economics, Sociology, Psychology, Politics and Law, and uses them to explain why businesses, workers and the economy behave how they do.

Business Studies complements a number of AS/A2 combinations (linking well with the Humanities, Sciences, ICT and Mathematics).

When leaving the Sixth Form this subject is useful for those wishing to enter a career and/or continue in higher education in areas such as Management, Accounting, Marketing, Design, Banking, Insurance, Personnel and Administration. It is also a good choice for anyone requiring a wider understanding of the world of work.

At AS Level, candidates are introduced to the challenges and issues of starting a business, including financial planning. They then explores the key internal functions of business and how the management of these functions can assist in improving the effectiveness and performance of a business.

At A2, we consider strategies for larger businesses and how thesestrategies may change according to circumstances. Finally, we examinethe effects that external factors can have on business and how a businesscan plan for and manage change, including leadership style and changein business culture.
