Mathematics A Level at Settle College

Course description

Course Description (AS)
Students will study three units of work: Core Maths 1 and 2 and Decision Maths 1. The third unit may be replaced by Mechanics 1 or Statistics 1, depending on staff time tabling constraints.

The Maths Moodle area has AS and A2 areas with a wealth of resources, including past papers and mark schemes for units taught, Home Learning tasks, summaries, powerpoints and other teaching documents which are regularly updated.

Course Description (A2)

Students continuing with the A2 course will be expected to have achieved a sound grade on the AS level. Students will study three units of work: Core Maths 3 and 4 and an Applied Unit. Depending on progression in AS level, this third unit may vary (see constraint at AS).

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C or above, which must include: GCSE Grade B in Maths and an aptitude for the subject

Both AS and A2 are assessed by examinations in May/June. A re-take opportunity is currently available, in June of Y13, for units first taken in Y12 (AS). There is no coursework requirement
