Course description

The Edexcel BTEC Level 3 National (Extended Certificate) in Art & Design are set out as a two year course, which are designed to allow the opportunity for you to study the subject from a vocational, work-related setting and to consolidate further the different specialisms studied previously. You can expect to work from the creative disciplines of drawing & painting, abstract illustration, multi-media processes and stationary design etc. You are also introduced to specialist disciplines such as jewellery making/ceramics, print making and image making; along with this is the personalised specialist unit, the ‘FMP’.

On top of their practical development students will also have to explore the health and safety legislation which governs the Art & Design industry, as well as making important links with vocational practises and the work of other artists. These will be evidenced through annotation, case-studies and information gathered from visits to museums, galleries and different industries.
