Media Studies at Greenshaw High School

Course description

A level Media Studies is a dynamic and inspiring qualification that explores modern culture through analysis and in-depth exploration of all forms of media. Students will experience the inner workings of media texts and will learn the concerns and considerations that media makers are faced with. This is a fascinating qualification which provides students with opportunities to make their own professional quality media texts.

Foundation portfolio in media.

Entry requirements

Grade B or higher in GCSE English Language.

Assessment

Foundation controlled assessment portfolio.
2 hour written exam with video extract.
Advanced controlled assessment portfolio.
2 hour written exam.
Music and film industries.
Advanced portfolio in media.
Critical perspectives.
Creation of five minute short film.
Online media

Future opportunities

The course combines well with other creative and business subjects, allowing you to
progress thourough university education and future employment in either the arts or
business world. Media studies will provide a good route into many careers including
broadcasting, social media, film and television, publishing, music promotion, journalism and advertising.
