Performing Arts VTEC Level 3 Extended Certficate and Diploma at Alec Reed Academy

Course description

Members of the School of Performing Arts at ARA on the BTEC Level 3 Performing Arts course will encounter a broad range of acting, musical theatre and dance styles. This course will help students gain the knowledge, practical experience and confidence to enter the performing arts as a career.

Course content

The course will include studying a range of subject areas including: Children’s theatre, musical theatre, Singing skills, the principles of acting, developing the voice, audition techniques, urban, contemporary and musical theatre dance and historical context of performance. 

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs A*-C including a 4 in English and Maths


Work will be assessed though practical tasks, with supporting written and filmed evidence. You will take part in various performances throughout the course, as well as visiting external performances and venues.
