Engineering Motorsport Level 3 Extended Diploma at Banbury and Bicester College

Course description

To gain a wider understanding of the motorsports industry so you can progress to higher education or go straight into a career, study our Extended Diploma in Engineering Motorsport. By studying and training at our specialist motorsports engineering campus at Bicester you’ll gain first-rate experience and a qualification that gives you the equivalent of three A-levels.

Course content

You learn the following subjects:

Semester 1
• mechanical principles
• drawing and computer aided drawing
• vehicle engines
• workplace practices
• engineering project

Semester 2
• business
• composites
• electronic pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• vehicle systems
• workplace practices

Entry requirements

5 or more GCSEs grades A*-C including English and excluding maths
Or BTEC level 2 Diploma grade Merit or Distinction with English GCSE grade C or above or English Functional skills Level 2 (no maths at level 2)

Applicants will be invited to attend an interview and complete an internal assessment. All students will have their literacy and numeracy needs supported within the programme.

Future opportunities

      • From the M40: leave the motorway at Junction 9 and head North on the A41 towards Bicester. At the roundabout take the third exit continuing on to the A41, and at the next roundabout take the second exit along the A4421. Go straight over the next three roundabouts and take the first exit on the fourth roundabout into Launton Road. Take the first turning on the left into Telford Industrial Estate, then left again into Telford Road. The college is at the end of the road on the left hand side.
      • From Buckingham/Milton Keynes: follow the A4421 from Buckingham to just outside the town of Bicester. You will come to a large roundabout at Caversfield. Turn left at this roundabout (this is the ring road around Bicester and will be signposted A41 Aylesbury).
 At the next roundabout turn right into Launton Road. Take the first turing on the left into Telford Industrial Estate, then left again into Telford Road. The college is at the end of the road on the left hand side.
      • From the A43: turn left at Baynards Green (Garage) roundabout towards Bicester. Continue to the next roundabout just outside Bicester, and turn left towards the Ring Road (A41). 
Go straight over the following roundabout and then turn right at the next one towards Bicester Town. Take next turn left into the Telford Industrial Estate, then left again into Telford Road. The college is at the end of the road on the left hand side.
