Law AS Level and A Level at Mayflower High School
The aim of the course is to provide an overview of legal concepts, together with an understanding of aspects of civil and criminal law.
What will I study at AS Level?
The aim of the course is to provide an overview of legal concepts together with an understanding of aspects of civil and criminal law.
Two units are studied at AS Level. The first unit develops knowledge and understanding of the legal system, together with an evaluation of its operation and performance. The second unit introduces substantive law and requires the application of Criminal and Civil Law. Both units will be examined at the end of the AS Year.
What will I study at A Level?
In Year 13, students have the opportunity to study a further two units. The first unit will further their understanding of criminal law through the study of a variety of offences against the person. The final unit looks at criminal offences against property and includes a synoptic element which requires the students to draw on their knowledge of legal issues studied throughout the course. Both units will be examined at the end of the A2 year.
CAPS 40 plus Grade B in GCSE English Language.
