Photography A Level at Queen Mary's College

Course description

This programme of study has a substantial theory element. You will learn to analyse the work of photographers, so are required to have good analytical skills and be proficient in descriptive writing. You will be taught both chemical and digital photographic techniques, and will learn to use Adobe Photoshop as part of the first year syllabus. In the second year you will develop your own visual language using as much or as little IT as suits your interest and purpose.

You are not expected to have previous experience in photography as the course starts with basic skills such as taking pictures, developing and printing. You will then go on to develop these skills to produce creative, experimental responses to project briefs.
