Hairdressing Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship at New College Durham
Hairdressing Apprenticeships allow students to work within a real working environment, enhancing their hairdressing skills, earning a wage and gaining a qualification at the same time. Apprenticeships are designed with the help of employers in the industy, so they offer a structured programme that takes Apprentices through the skills needed to do a job well.
Most of an Apprentice's trainingtakes place within the salon placement, however they do attend college each week to allow them to develop practical and theoretical skills required to carry out a hairdressing service. The course is designed for experienced hairdressing stylists wishing to develop their skills in specialist areas.
The course may include the following units:
- Creatively style and dress hair
- Creatively cut hair using a combination of techniques
- Creatively colour and lighten hair
- Hair colour correction services
- Contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of promotional activities
There is the option to study this course part-time. Ongoing assessments that takes place in the salon and in college.
You will study the following:
National Vocational Qualification (NVQ): Diploma in Hairdressing Level 3
Functional Skills: English Level 2, Mathematics Level 2
Apprenticeships in Hairdressing or Full time level 2 qualification, or extensive industrial experience.
You could progress onto the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship Barbering or progress into a career as a hair stylist.Related careers
