Chef Apprenticeship at Hospitality Industry Training

Course description

There are two professional qualification for chefs and cooks, 'Professional Cookery' and 'Food Processing and Cookery.' They are both recognised as NVQ level two qualifcations. The choice of qualification depends on the type of kitchen, their menu, the skills required and their preparation and production methods. The variety of NVQ units enable chefs and cooks working in a variety of restaurants and catering outlets to achieve this professional qualificaiton. This NVQ is sufficiently flexible to encompass the majority of ethnic cuisine cooking techniques. Future opportunities you become responsible for staff as a shift leader, chef de partie, sous chef, supervisor or kitchen manager you could undertake the Hospitality Supervision Apprenticeship (Cookery option) or the Advanced Professional Cookery Apprenticeship.
