Plumbing and Heating City and Guilds Diploma Level 1 at The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London

Course description

This course is a Level 1 Plumbing installation course, designed for you to get into the Building services industry.

The course consists of practical and theory assignments and training.

To achieve this plumbing qualification you will study installation, repair and maintenance of plumbing systems, above ground drainage, pipework (copper, plastic, low carbon steel) and plumbing science.

. There are also four subjects which are covered in this qualifications:

  • Structure of the construction industry
  • Environmental
  • Sustainability measures in domestic dwellings
  • Site preparation in the construction industry

Course content

The lessons you are taught are mainly theory-based with practical training and assessment which includes assignment writing, theory and practical assessments.

Entry requirements

You will need to attend College for an interview, complete an initial assessment, which is a test to check your level of English and maths and have a good reference.


This qualification is 50% practical and 50% theoretical.

You will be assessed on your completed practical tasks, using industry standards. Written assessment will include multiple choice questions, paper-based exams and written assignments.

Future opportunities

From this course you can progress onto Level 2 in Heating and Plumbing, subject to full completion of the Level 1 and a satisfactory level of attendance.
