Public Services (Uniformed) BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Farnborough College of Technology

Course description

This course offers an excellent opportunity to make an informed choice about a career in the police or fire service, army, royal navy, royal marines, royal air force, prison service, security organisations or HM customs.

Course content

  • Theoretical and practical units
  • Development of transferable skills such as leadership, resilience and organisation that can be applied across all the public services
  • An expedition to enhance your navigational and orienteering skills

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grade C or above including two in Mathematics, English Language or a Science; plus a successful reference and interview. 

All young people will continue to improve their skills in English and Mathematics while studying at the college. If you have lower than a C grade GCSE in Mathematics or English Language, you will be supported to work towards this level.

Future opportunities

This programme is equivalent to three A Levels and provides either a foundation for university study or can act as a stepping stone to a range of careers, not necessarily related to the uniformed services, which require you to be educated to A Level standard.
