IT at Washwood Heath Academy

Course description

BTEC Level 3 qualifications that are designed to provide specialistwork-related qualifications in a range of sectors. They give learnersthe knowledge, understanding and skills that they need to preparethem for employment, as well as providing career developmentopportunities for those already in work. You can expect to gain hands-on practical experience ofmaintaining and creating websites, spreadsheet modelling, databasecreation, creating graphics and understanding what it takes towork in the IT industry by looking at attributes and skills valued byemployers.

Entry requirements

You will normally need at least 4 GCSE at grades A*-C, ideally including English, Maths and IT. You will also need at least a Level 2 qualification in IT (or a related subject) with Merit.


There are no exams. You will be assessed on the assignments and projects you complete.

Future opportunities

You could move on to a HND or degree, become selfemployed or find a job in an IT related occupation, such as programming, applications support, web design,graphic design or business administration.
