Human Health and Physiology GCSE at Exeter College

Course description

This course gives you an excellent and broad based investigation into the systems of the body, cellular functions and genetics in relation to human health.
You will:
- Study circulatory, respiratory, digestive, nervous, muscular, skeletal and reproductive body systems
- Look at growth, development, healthy lifestyles and genetics
- Carry out supervised work in our well equipped laboratory

Internal assessment accounts for 25% of your mark.

This includes practical work, study questions, problem sheets and independent research. There is one examination worth 75% of your mark.

Entry requirements

You need four GCSEs at grade D including biology, human biology or science at grade D or above if taken before and GCSE English and maths at grade D.

Financial information

Text book RRP £10.99. Students will be asked to pay a fee of £5 towards use of lab coats and equipment. Subject to change.

Future opportunities

You could progress to an advanced course, such as A-Level Biology ((if you gain a grade B or higher) or Access to HE Diploma in Health and Social Care or Science. This course is particularly good for those intending to enter the Health Care profession.
