Fashion BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Walsall College

Course description

This exciting course provides students with the opportunity to experience a broad range of subjects that strongly reflect practices used in the fashion industry.

After the initial stage of the course, in which you follow a programme to develop your creativity and technical skills, the programme follows specialist fashion pathways, including pattern construction, garment production, surface pattern and drawing development.

There may be opportunities for trips abroad, as well as chances to enter into various competitions and shows. All students could have the opportunity of taking part in a fashion show or high profile fashion shoot.

Extensive private study is required and the course offers opportunities to gain further qualifications in Functional Skills English and Maths.

Entry requirements

5 GCSE’s at Grades C or above including English Language and/or Maths (some courses may require both, please check your individual course). Or successful completion of Level 2 related qualification.

Assessment

Students will undergo various formative and summative assessments, compiling a portfolio of work.

Future opportunities

Successful completion of this course may lead directly onto a BTEC Extended Diploma for example in Fashion, Art and Design, Graphics or Interior Design. Students can then progress to study a HNC in Fashion of BA (hon) degree at university.
