Course description

This qualification provides a hands-on approach where you will develop the necessary skills required for a career in Computing. The qualification offers you the chance to personalise your path of study. You will develop a broad range of skills and knowledge as a basis for progression to further studies or industry. The A Level aims to develop your theoretical and practical problem-solving abilities, as well as to build a strong foundation of knowledge of the fundamentals of how computer systems work.
The topics use realistic software development scenarios which give an insight into how software solutions and applications are developed and implemented within business and commercial environments.

Learning will take place through group discussion, practical activities and research, delivered by staff with a wealth of knowledge and industry experience to share. Students are provided with the relevant practical experience using a modern computing laboratory environment. Specialist equipment and software are provided using the latest versions of software languages and up to date hardware. Successful students mainly progress to Higher Education in disciplines such as Computer Science, Engineering, Medicine, Law, Business, Politics or any Science.

Six GCSEs at A* to C which must include English and a B in Maths.Interview Required: Yes
