Sport Studies at Newmarket Academy

Course description

This sports studies course will give you the opportunity to study a vocational qualification that will prepare you for life and work in the sports and leisure industry. It contains a broad variety of topics which which will test both the physical and mental capabilities of the student. Students will certainly develop and enhance important employment skills including those in team work, coaching and communication. These will prove valuable in progressing into apprenticeships. However, the successful completion of the level 3 course also leads naturally into sports science and health related degrees in higher education and past students have progressed onto both. 

This course may be taken at single, double and triple level. In other words students may take the equivalent of one, two or three A level qualifications in this subject.

  • Physiology of fitness
  • Sports coaching 
  • Sports nutrition
  • Sports and exercise massage
  • Sports injuries
  • Psychology for sports performance
  • Technical and tactical skills in sport
  • Current issues in sport
  • Anatomy for sport and exercise
