What is Children’s Play learning and Development (CPLD)?
This programme is designed to help you build the knowledge and childcare skills needed when working with children and young people from birth to eight years. It is a level 3 qualification studied over a two year programme.
It is aimed at those who wish to work, or are working at an unsupervised level in the children and young people’s workforce in England. The programme will prepare you to work in a wide range of settings, with different professionals and volunteers who provide services for children and their families.
Practical work-based training forms a large part of this programme. You are required to undertake a minimum of 50 placement hours in a minimum of one setting. You will complete a Practical Evidence Portfolio. employability skills. Childcare students need to have a warm, caring and patient nature, good communication skills, the ability to work with young children and their families in a sensitive and positive way, have creative ideas for activities and an interest in child development. These characteristics will be built on throughout the course.
BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Children’s Play Learning and development.
This qualification provides much of the underpinning knowledge and understanding for the National Occupational Standards for the sector. For those students wishing to progress to higher education this course attracts UCAS points and is work related . You will develop your knowledge on children’s development and the development of children’s communication, Literacy and Numeracy Skill, along with play and learning and how to keep children safe.
Over the course of the 2years you will complete 2 external examinations and 2 coursework units. The course is graded as Pass ,Merit, Distinction and Distinction
4 x 4 GCSE grade 4 and above to inlcude English.
