Course description

The National Extended Diploma is a 180 credit (3 A level equivalent, up to a maximum of 420 UCAS points) course completed within two years. Unit content includes a wide range of land based and water based outdoor activities, some theory sessions and a number of practical fitness units, plus anatomy and physiology and assessing risk.

Unit content includes a wide range of land based and water based outdoor activities, some theory sessions and a number of practical fitness units, plus anatomy and physiology and assessing risk.

Entry requirements

The courses are variously equivalent to 3 ‘A’ Levels and are suitable if you have done well at school in sport and have a keen interest in the outdoor sector. You should have at least four GCSE’s at grade C in appropriate subjects. A First Diploma, normally at Merit or Distinction level, is also an acceptable entry qualification.

Assessment

Each course is vocational in nature and is assessed through both written (academic) and practical (vocational) assignments. Knowledge and understanding and the application of work-related skills, are continually assessed. BTEC assignments are set and marked internally and moderated externally.
