The Extended Project is a course which can be taken as a free‐standing qualification, equivalent to an AS level.
The Extended Project allows students a free project choice, so they can explore in depth an aspect of a subject they are studying, or a topic in which they have a personal interest. The topic is chosen by the student and agreed with the student’s teacher,
who then acts as his or her supervisor for the duration of the project. The
student has to show that they can plan, deliver and present an extended piece of work. The Project entails extensive research and production of:
- A production log recording stages of the Project.
- Either a 5000 word research report or an artefact (piece of art, sculpture, film, CD, DVD, video, journal,) plus a 1500 – 2000 word report.
- A 10 – 15 minute presentation to a non‐specialist audience.
