Beauty Therapy City and Guilds Level 3 Certificate at Guildford College

Course description

This course is designed for those wishing to pursue a career in Beauty Therapy and for those who have already completed a Level 2 qualification in Beauty or have some experience working in the Beauty industry.

All 16-19 year olds on full-time programmes will be required to retake GCSE English and Maths or to undertake Functional Skills, if they have not already attained the equivalent of a GCSE grade C in these subjects, every year of their course, until they complete their studies.

Course content

Mandatory units include:

  • monitoring and maintaining health and safety practices in the salon
  • promoting and selling products and services
  • and providing body massage.

You will also choose from a number of optional units, including:

  • client care and communication
  • massage
  • waxing
  • maintaining personal health and wellbeing

Entry requirements

You must have completed at Level 2 qualification in Beauty Therapy, or equivalent.

You will also need GCSEs at grade C or above in English and preferably Maths; or equivalent.

You must have at least 90% attendance from the Level 2 course and maintain it on the Level 3 course.

Assessment

The course is theory and practically based with online tests and practical assessment work in each unit.

Financial information

You should allow for the following additional costs: uniform, equipment, essential book list (to be advised), files and resources at a cost of approximately £520. An education visit cost is included in this fee.

You could progress on to work in salons, department stores, hotels or health spas
