Philosophy and Ethics A2 Level at Lord Grey School

Course description

Philosophy and Ethics is a well-established A-Level subject with a good reputation among universities. This A-Level is an inclusive subject, designed for people of any faith and no faith. During the course students will explore how religion is portrayed in the media through comedy, fiction and the internet. Learners will study the psychology of religion and its relationship with mental health as well as complete a unit about atheism and how and why it has increased in the UK.

Course content

At A2 Level, students will complete further Ethics based units on topics such as free will and sexual behaviour, and complete an extended project on beliefs about life after death.

Entry requirements

4 x A*-C grades and 1 x B grade is needed. You also need English or Mathematics as a minimum at C grade.

Assessment

Two written papers for AS, of equal weighting, each one hour and fifteen minutes. There will be a choice of four essay questions of which two must be answered. This is the same at A2 but learners have one hour and thirty minutes for each assessment.
