Biology A Level at Samuel Ryder Academy

Course description

The OCR A-Level biology course is designed to encourage candidates to develop enthusiasm for biology, whilst learning and improving practical skills which can be backed up with scientific understanding and application.

In A-Level Biology you will develop an interest in and enthusiasm for biology, including developing an interest in further study and careers in biology. You will learn to appreciate how society makes decisions about scientific issues and how the sciences contribute to the success of the economy and society. Biology at A-Level will help you develop and demonstrate a deeper appreciation of the skills, knowledge and understanding of How Science Works.

Entry requirements

It is essential that you achieve a B grade or higher in Additional Science or Biology GCSE. You should also have achieved a grade B or higher in Maths at GCSE and a good positive attitude to study Biology.

To continue onto the A2 course a D grade or above at AS is required.
