The course consists of six units, two of which are compulsory.
Music Performance Techniques The aim of this unit is to enable
learners to develop their techniques for both solo and group
performance, from practice through to performance.
Solo Music Performance Skills This unit enables the learner’s
continued development of the specific skills required by a
Working and Developing as a Musical Ensemble This practical
unit explores the nature of ensemble work by allowing learners
to become part of a musical ensemble concentrating on
the process of working together to produce a musically and
artistically satisfying result.
Listening Skills for Musicians The aim of this unit is to enable
learners to develop their listening skills.
Marketing and Promotion in the Music Industry To enable learners
to develop their knowledge of the types of marketing strategies
used by music organisations. Learners will then apply their learning
to the marketing of a recording production or performance
Pop Music Practise This unit is designed to enable learners to
expand their knowledge of pop music grounded in practical
experience of rehearsing and performing relevant works.
Music Performance Session Styles This unit encourages learners
to increase their opportunities for employment as performers
by developing the ability to reproduce the authentic sounds
and performance characteristics of historically and culturally
important genres and artists.
