EFL - English as a Foreign Language (full-time) at New College Durham

Course description

The course will help you to develop your skill and confidence in using English in a variety of different situations (life, work and study).

Working alongside students from all parts of the world, you will develop your ability to communicate fluently and accurately and to express your own ideas and feelings.

You will develop academic skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing which will help prepare you for further study.

You will prepare for entry to one of the Cambridge main suite exams (KET, PET, FCE, CAE or CPE) and/or IELTS

Course content

You will receive an assessment of your language level at the start of the course and then we will give you a timetable to match your particular needs.

Classes can include general English, academic English and exam preparation.

Students also take part in enrichment activities – for example educational visits and projects in the local community.

Entry requirements

Elementary, Pre-intermediate, Intermediate, Advanced, Proficiency (= Council of Europe -  A2, B1, B2, C1, C2)

Future opportunities

Most learners progress between levels in one year, however, people learn languages at different speeds and it is possible to move more quickly or take more time.

These qualifications are widely recognised around the world for entry to University and employment.
