A Level Economics at Hewens College

Course description

This course aims to introduce you to the world of economics using a variety of techniques and concepts. You will critically explore the world in which we live, using a variety of economic models. You will develop the ability to justify and argue a number of points of view using economic concepts.The course will develop an understanding of markets, market failure and demand and supply. This will then be used to study the national economy later on in the year and the variety of policy solutions economics can provide to a government.

Entry requirements

5 A*-C GCSE grades or the equivalent, including C in Maths and English.'

Future opportunities

At AS level this course will compliment students studying Government and Politics and other Social Sciences. Continuing at A2 level, this course may lead to a degree in Economics, Mathematics or another related discipline. It will demonstrate sort after analytical and theoretical skills, which are required in the competitive employment market. Economists may enter a variety of careers such as journalism, accounting or local and national government.
