NVQ Business & Administration (Levels 1, 2) at Appleby Heritage Centre

Course description

This course is available at levels 1-2 and is aimed at anybody who is considering working in a business/office environment.It is a vocational qualification, and as with any vocational qualification the emphasis is placed on what you can do.An essential part of this course involves weekly external work experience in a suitably approved organisation.



Course content

Students complete a variety of units from a list of units such as:



Working in a business environment

Producing documents

Using office equipment

Spreadsheet and or database

Presentation software

Store and retrieve information

Handle mail

Use telephone systems

Organise events

Research information

Organising travel

Support meetings

Provide reception services

Word processing soft ware

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, however due to limited places and a heavy commitment in staff hours, places are allocated on recommendation from form tutors, with emphasis being placed on organisational skills, reliability, timekeeping and attendance.



Each unit is assessed separately so that unit certificates can be awarded where necessary. There are NO formal examinations. Candidates complete units by gathering together a portfolio of relevant evidence.


Future opportunities


This course can lead to employment in many administrative positions in almost any kind of industry.
