Business (OCR) at Goffs School

Course description

Exam Body: OCR

OCR Business has exact equivalence with AS/A2 qualifications, but has a more vocational emphasis by looking at how theory is applied to real business situations.  Numerous real business links are used to bring a real business dimension to the course.

OCR Business is a 12 Unit Award (Double or Diploma) equivalent to 2 A Levels or 6 Unit Award (Single or Certificate), equivalent to 1 A Levels.  Therefore a double award will take two option spaces on the timetable.

Business Studies is about how different types of businesses are organised and run.  Questions such as the following are investigated:  What are the most efficient methods of production?  How are finances dealt with in an organisation?  How does the economy affect businesses?  How effective is marketing?  Why are human resources so important?

The course will also help develop student’s key skills in ICT, Communication and Application of Number.
