Engineering Level 2 Diploma at Strode College

Course description

This one year course will introduce you to the various aspects of modern engineering. It covers lots of areas, built on the four pillars of CAD, electronics and engineering. You will also develop skills in maths, working safety and communications.

Additional fabrication and assembly units are studied to develop practical workshop skills more fully. We have excellent engineering resources to accommodate the practical aspects of the course to include industrial standard software such as AutoCad and 3D printer.

Entry requirements

5 GCSE grades E or above or equivalent, such as NVQ Level 1 plus a GCSE grade E or above, including Maths and English Language. Students who have achieved a Level 1 qualification such as Performing Engineering Operations must also have Maths and English Language at E or above.

Assessment

On this course you are assessed continually and must submit a portfolio of assignments for each unit. Many assignments are of a practical nature.

Financial information

A scientific calculator (Casio fx-83 or fx-85), overalls and safety footwear.

Future opportunities

At the end of the year you will have started a journey into the world of engineering and the employment possibilities this opens up to you. Most students progress from this course onto Apprenticeships or the Level 3 Extended Diploma and then onto employment or university.
