Course description

Why study the Subsidiary Diploma in Hospitality? The Subsidiary Diploma in Hospitality is a qualification which allows you to gain a thorough understanding of the principles of the hospitality industry by focusing on a range of theoretical and practical activities. This course is equivalent to one A Level. You will have to study three compulsory units and you will study four options. In the compulsory units you will learn about the nature and scope of the hospitality industry and the principles of customer service in the hospitality industry. You will also learn how to plan and manage an event. The optional units will be chosen from a wide range and may include subjects such as financial management and marketing in the hospitality industry, European and Asian food and the principles of nutrition.You will be assessed by the completion of a portfolio of evidence. This may be written, audio, visual or through presentations and practical activities. The type of work involved can be conducting a pre-planning meeting, planning, costing and running a hospitality event. You may have the opportunity to produce food from a range of cultures using a range of materials.

Entry requirements

GCSE at grade C or BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate at Merit

Future opportunities

On completion of this course you will be suited to progress to study for a degree in the hospitality industries or training or employment.
