A2 Art and Design (Fine Art) at Nether Stowe School

Course description

AQA A Level Art and Design (Fine Art)  supports progression to further and higher education in Art and Design and related subjects as well as providing all students with a platform to inspire a lifelong interest in, and enjoyment of, Art and Design.

Course content

Over the two year course you wil produce practical and critical/contextual work in one or more areas of study, for example:

  • Drawing
  • Painting
  • Mixed-media
  • Sculpture
  • Ceramics
  • Installation
  • Printmaking
  • Moving image video
  • Film, animation and photography

Entry requirements

Grade 6 or above in GCSE Art and Design.

However, if you do not meet the criteria exactly, we will consider your application on a case by case basis

Assessment

Unit 1 - Portfolio of work assessed internally and moderated by AQA is worth 60%

Unit 2 - Externally set assignment assessed internally and moderated by AQA is worth 40%

Future opportunities

This course will enable you to choose form a vaiety of areas to specialise in at a higher level or in the world of work including degree level Art and Design, Architecture, Fine Art, Graphic Design

Further information

The A level Art and Design qualification is welcome in any creative environment. The creativity and practical skills you develop in art and design will enable you to use skills in an ever changing woeld in which we live in.

These include Advertising, Fashion, Architecture, Product Design, Interior Design, Graphic Design, Animation and Sculptural Design.
