Course description

The course aims to provide a deeper understanding of the theoretical principles of sport for the committed sportsman. The syllabus is designed to provide a framework for the analysis of different types of sporting activity and to develop an understanding of the
biomechanical, physiological and psychological principles that govern performance in sport. The role of sport in society is addressed through the study of socio-economic
and cultural issues, together with the historical development of organised sport in Britain.

The course includes a practical assessment which focuses on the execution of skills, the analysis of performance and the ability to adopt different roles. For a thorough understanding of the physiological and psychological demands involved in sport, candidates need to experience personally the preparation for and intensity
