Applied Science at Holy Trinity

Course description

Oscar Romero Sixth Form Centre is one of few local establishments to offer the new and exciting BTEC Level 3 certificate in Applied Science. The course gives the opportunity to study Science from an applied rather than a pure science angle, and this opens up a whole world of post 18 options.

Many full time courses are available through Higher Education with a more applied bias, for example, Forensics, Horticulture, Nursing, Engineering, Environment, Materials Technology and Sports Biology. Many employers in these fields offer careers with on going vocational training. So if you have GCSE grade C or above in Science and want to try something different, why not join us?

Course content

-The course is made up of three modules , all three are portfolio based.  They all have equal weighting.

Unit 1 -  Fundamentals of science. Students will develop the practical techniques necessary to pursue a career in a science based organisation.
